Lost and Found: Flask / Comb / Pillow @ Stories Books & Cafe

As Roma Edwards’s curatorial worldbuilding practice, Lost and Found is an art exhibit merged with a live reading series in which art objects are paired with related stories. The exhibit/reading is accompanied by DJ sets, event-specific printed matter, and an auction of select art objects.

This project exists at the intersection of the tangible and the intangible, demonstrating the affective, lively, and narrative potentials of the aesthetic, material, and abstract. Lost and Found is a catalog novel about the interiority of design, a treasure chest filled with vessels, souvenirs, artifacts, primary sources, and ghosts.

Inspirations include Miranda July’s works The Auction, It Chooses You, and The First Bad Man Store; Jonn Herschend and Will Rogan’s The Thing Quarterly; Museum der Dinge in Berlin; Jane Bennetts’s concept of vital materialism; and Pippa Garner’s entire oeuvre.

Flask / Comb / Pillow (July 14, 2023) was the first show in this series and took place at Stories Books & Cafe. Limited-edition posters archived at Los Angeles Contemporary Archive and you can find the readings from the show here
