Book Drive for LA County Jails @ Feminist Center for Creative Work

Roma co-organized a book drive and fundraiser that uplifted the power of literacy as a tool to resist the violence of the carceral state. The event featured system-impacted speakers, performers, artists, and prison justice organizations. In partnership with LA County Library’s Books for Jails program, the event brought 450+ books directly to people incarcerated in LA County jails. Additionally, the event raised over $1,500 for Anti-Recidivism Coalition, API RISE, California Coalition for Women Prisoners, and Homeboy Industries.

Fundraiser for Gaza Mutual Aid

Roma co-organized a fundraiser party for Gaza mutual aid featuring music, tattoos, and screen printed clothing, raising over $2,000 for families in Gaza.

Art Camp

Roma’s commitment to facilitating student-centered learning environments is rooted in the art camp that she started at age 14. She has continued to run this camp each year, teaching art to students ages five to 16 through personalized assignments that accommodate diverse learning styles.

Testimonies from Parents:

“Your art class is a highlight of my daughter’s summers. Thanks for being a mentor and supporter of her love for art” - Susanne

“Roma’s art camp is hands-down my son’s favorite camp. Roma is the reason. Each time he goes, he experiments with new materials and makes a variety of pieces. My 14-year-old son has been in Roma’s camp since age 9 and it’s still something new and wonderful each summer.” - Catherine

“This is a perfect neighborhood camp: substantive enough to support our son’s love of art, but relaxed enough to let kids be kids with other kids. We make our vacation plans around it.” - Jon

Hammer Museum

As a Student Educator at the Hammer Museum, Roma encouraged groups of all ages to engage with contemporary art.
